Pet Trust Funds
Most people love their pets as part of the family so it makes sense to be able to leave a trust for your pet or to name a guardian to care for your pet should something happen to you. I think some people may go a tad overboard but at least now they have the option. It will be interesting to see how many other states jump on board with Ohio!

A growing number of pet owners want to remember their four-legged friends in their wills. But those sorts of wills are often contested and can be in probate for weeks or months. A new law in Ohio allows pet owners to create trust funds to care for their dogs and cats.
Connie Page, a vice president of Key Private Bank, says with a pet trust, an animal can also be cared for if the owner is incapacitated. The Ohio pet trust law takes effect Jan. 1.
